Build your resume
Build a resume from your work, volunteer and school experience, with checks for blanks, repeats and dates before you send it.
Built from Your own entries, plus optional ideas for each job you edit to fit: duties and tools from O*NET data (U.S. Department of Labor) and starter lines written by Invest Hamilton County

Your details
One line, the way it will print: phone, email and city. No street address is needed on a resume and leaving it off is normal now.
Use the title from the posting. It is the first thing a recruiter reads and the first thing an application system matches.
Who you are, how long, and your two best numbers. No adjectives about yourself: “hard-working” is what every summary says.
Six to ten is the sweet spot. Put the ones the posting names first, because a human skims the top line and stops. Commas inside brackets are kept together.
Work and other experience
Paid jobs, military service, volunteering, school projects, caregiving and career breaks all count, and so does work done in a training program or a facility: list the employer or program like any other. You choose what to include, and most recent goes first.
Say whether it is current, and if it is not, what is happening: “lapsed 2017, reinstatement in progress” is honest and reads as a plan. Name who issued it; where you earned it is optional. A license line should say the state. Leave this empty if you have none.
A degree from another country belongs here too, with the country. If you have had it evaluated, say so.
Name each language and how well you use it at work. Employers who need a language search for this section.
The summary always leads. Every order keeps one column and standard headings, which is what application systems read.

Your drafts on this device
The resume builder runs in your browser. What you type here is not sent to Alex's servers. One thing leaves it: when you press Find ideas for this job, Alex looks up the job title you typed and the job you pick. Alex does not keep either. Your work is saved in this browser so you can come back to it.
Your drafts are saved in this browser on this device. They stay here after you close the tab or the browser, until you delete them.
On a shared or library computer: turn on shared-computer mode before you start, and delete your drafts before you leave. Download or print anything you want to keep first.
Talk it through with your Alex coach
A conversation, not a form. Your coach knows Hamilton County's numbers and programs, and it will point you to the right tool for anything it can't answer. It's an AI coach, your chats are private, and they are never used to train anything.
